daily thought - too hot to handle

i did something stupid. something very very stupid. i cut up a pound of jalapenos without gloves on. i thought they only bothered you if you had a cut or something. i was wrong. so very wrong.
i was fine while cutting them. i was fine for about an hour afterwards. my fingers were a little tingly, but no big deal. but then it started to get hotter... and hotter... and HOTTER! for about 8 hours it felt like i was holding on to a light bulb that had been on for hours, and wasn't cooling down. an old incandescent light bulb. a hundred watt one. i can not emphasise enough how hot it was. XD i tried all sorts of remedies, olive oil, lemon juice, vinegar, rubbing alcohol, milk, hand lotion, ice water... nothing worked, and some even made it worse. the only thing that soothed it at all was a paste of baking soda and water or milk. which i kept applying to my hands, letting dry, and washing off with dish soap. did that for an hour or so, and decided to go to sleep early to try to sleep through the pain, like around 6pm, with my hands coated in the stuff. woke up around 9 pm from the pain. washed them off, made a new batch, and feel asleep that way again. i went through an entire box of baking soda. i woke up around midnight and the pain had finally gone away. this morning they're still sore and dried out from the billion hand washings i tried. typing isn't that fun. i can't even attempt ziplock bags. i just keep putting lotion on them over and over, which they greedily absorb. i got baking soda paste everywhere. especially all over my side of the bed, where the dried up stuff flaked off my fingers in my sleep. luckily when the water evaporates it turns back into a powder, so it's easy to vacuum up.
lesson learned. ALWAYS USE GLOVES WHEN CUTTING JALAPENOS!!

i had a doctor's apointment today. there's a program through the drug company of one of the medicines i take, so that i can get my stuff for free... gave the forms to my doctor. he said he'd have his staff fill them out. the nurse said it could take a while, and they'd call me when they were done. i got no phone call.

to top it all off: our dishwasher overflowed. the floor was overdue for a mopping, but that's not the way i wanted to go about it. it seems one of the items i put in there had gotten dish soap spilled on it and i didn't notice. it frothed all over the place. me and my boyfriend spent an hour or so cleaning it up, had a quick dinner, and took a nap. now the bathtub is full of grimy wet towels. ::sigh:: so i get to spend an hour or more cleaning up the bathroom tomorrow.

what i ate today:

  • vanilla pear smoothie - 5
  • salad - 7 points
  • guacamole toast - 2 points
  • lean pocket - 5 points
  • sandwich - 7 points
